As you've probably seen in
today's new shows and seasons, the fifth and final season of Poldark premieres on ITV Choice tonight (Tuesday, 13 August) at 20h00.
The bad news: Ross Poldark still has
the awful bob.
The good news: the storylines are interesting, especially those that deal with social oppression, the evils of slavery and the nature of insanity.
George Warleggan loses it bigtime after Elizabeth's death last season and Dr Enys becomes his psychiatrist.
Enys has an increasing interest in mental health and illness - it's causes, what it is, how to heal it.
I like that it focuses on the miiiiiind because it's something I'm very curious about. It's such a challenging beast to manage - it's like you have to wrangle and control it constantly, otherwise it controls you.
My mission right now: to see my mind as separate from me as much as possible. Sometimes I'm able to and other times I'm not.
In George's case he's so wracked with grief and guilt, his disturbed mind takes over every aspect of his being and he gets lost to its grip.
He's been so nasty over the course of the show and yet you can't help feeling for him in moments.
