Hit the pause button! Forget the timeline of events you've seen in
the teasers, they're changing.
It's sudden, it's a jaw dropper and it's definitely happening.
From this Monday, 25 November, Generations: The Legacy will go on hiatus for a month or possibly longer.
It's scary, alarming stuff considering what happened the last time new episodes stopped airing.
Flashback to >>
The Generations 16, which changed reality forever. There was Life Before It and Life After.
Of course our immediate reaction upon hearing the news was: "Will it ever be back?!" The new season is supposed to start on Monday (Season 6 of The Legacy) so we were obviously concerned.
We've asked the SABC's Head of PR for TV Channels Zandile Nkonyeni who tells us it will be back.
For the duration of its hiatus, current episodes are going to be replaced by throwback episodes, arranged according to weekly themes e.g. one week will focus on heroes such as Archie Moroka, Kenneth Mashaba, Julia Motene and Glen Majosi.
Another will focus on comic relief featuring Ma Sebobe, Queen Moroka, Sonny, Kenny and Dinny and another will spotlight villains: Ntsiki Lukhele, Andile Nogabu, Kenneth Mashaba and Max.
According to Zandile, the episodes are intended to offer fun, light viewing over the festive season as a tribute to the show's history and will run until just after Christmas or into early new year, depending on audience reactions to them. The show reaches its 26th birthday on 4 February 2020.
The TV ratings are annually lower during the holidays because many people aren't in their usual schedules so they often don't tune in nightly and miss plotlines, which won't happen with re-runs.
Is this You? How do feel about this turn of events? Does it work for you or does it suck?
