It was her first acting role on TV and on Monday night (2 March 2020) Nomzamo Mbatho bowed out of her role as Thandeka after portraying her for seven seasons.
Thandeka was gunned down and killed by Judas (Menzi Ngubane) - who's going to pay with his own exit soon - which isn't good enough for us.
Her exit was too violent! A shooting was perfect for Rhythm City's David Genaro but too brutal for Thandeka.
Do you feel so too?
The fact that Nomzamo was one of Isibaya's founding cast members adds to the meaning of her departure so here's a scrapbook to mark the occasion:
1. The original description of Thandeka when Isibaya premiered on Monday, 18 March 2013:
Thandeka Zungu (21)
Played by Nomzamo Mbatha
Mpiyakhe's daughter. Well educated, modern city girl. She has been protected by her fathers position and money and is an innocent. She must face an unrequited love and fight for what she believes in.
She is filled with a passion for science and discovering the universe, but knows nothing about those living in it.
2. Nomzamo at the 2014 MTV Africa Music Video Awards... a flashback to her first glimpse into TV when she was a Top 3 finalist in the 2012 MTV Base VJ Search:
3. A vid. of the Isibaya cast saying their goodbyes:
4. An interview she did on Expresso on Monday, talking about filming Coming To America 2 and her curent set-up of living between America and Mzansi:
Coming to America 2 releases in the US on 18 December 2020. The South African release date hasn't been confirmed yet.
