Soapie luvvas... another update on another shutdown... this time on SABC2's Muvhango.
Word of Mouth Pictures, who produce the show, locked down production on Wednesday (17 June) after discovering that one of their employees might have been in contact with someone who has COVID.
It's bizarre, because either they were or they weren't, but Word of Mouth says it's a possibility so who knows?
They've closed shop and the cast and crew are self-isolating.
It's INSANE that we're living like this, under this constant threat while desperately trying to make ends meet.
This news takes the news of impacted soapies to three as The River and Skeem Saam have also shut down under similar circumstances.
This is the production's statement:
Due to the possibility of one of Word of Mouth Pictures' employee being exposed to someone with Covid-19, SABC2's Muvhango has had to halt production until further notice.
Muvhango's Series producer Herbert Hadebe says the measure was taken to reduce the risk of exposure to COVID-19 on and offset.
"We are prioritizing safety of all staff members. We will be constantly monitoring the evolving situation and adapting our efforts and responses. We will continue working with the SABC as we comply with COVID-19 measures regulations."
Following concerns about the safety, the rest of the cast and crew have been asked to self-isolate until further notice. With the assistance of the SABC, disinfection onset resumes as part of the regular measures practice by the production.
The resumption date will be communicated soon.
New episodes will continue to air until and as such.
May the Force be with them.
