Aha! It's actually happened.
I didn't believe it would because of the Rona and the fact that Idols now has a new record label but it has.
Season 15 winner Luyolo Yiba released his winner's album today (27 November).
It's titled Ithemba (Hope) and has a total of 10 tracks on it, with three previously released numbers including his first single Sunshine Through the Rain.
You can download, stream or play them on all music apps including Spotify and
YouTube Music, where you can listen to each track.
Here's a link to get to the options:
Ithemba
And a sound-video of the title track:
A quote from Luyolo:
“What my supporters should take from Ithemba is the positivity, the love, and the hope; they should be hopeful at all times despite life’s circumstances and love one another. That’s the whole vibe of the album.
A quote that I live by is, we are all destined for greatness, we just have to continue doing what we do best. Wonke Umuntu Maka Phuse."
The album's been produced by new afro-pop duo Bavumile for Gallo and the tracks are a combo of their compositions and Luyolo's writing.
I imagine Idols will make a fuss about it during the Season 16 finale and feature him singing at
least one of they tracks from it.
They better!
They always have so many unrelated guest artists on the finale it would be a disgrace if they didn't.
We could only presume it's because they've changed the show's record label from Gallo to Kalawa Jamzee and therefore don't want to promote a Gallo artist.
There is no reason not feature him so hopefully I'm being too suspicious and we'll see him performing from his album at the finale on Sunday, 13 December.
