Two new characters debut on The Estate 2 on S3 soon: the first played by former 7de Laan star Vinette Ebrahim and the other portrayed by theatre actress and director Carla Fonseca in her first featured TV role.

Both of their characters are related to Lorcia Cooper's Jo.

Vinette plays Jo's complicated mother Fareeha and Carla plays Jo's sister Latifah, who has their mother's approval.

A zoom in on both:

Who is Fareeha?

Jo and her mother Fareeha have a complicated relationship. Fareeha wishes that Jo would be more like Latifah - less troublesome.

She’s surprised when Jo reaches out to Latifah and wants to reconnect. When the family is reunited it brings up family secrets.

And Latifah?

Jo’s younger sister. They lost touch when Jo left home at the age of 18 and they've been estranged ever since.

Latifah wanted to leave with Jo, but she was still in school at the time, and she also felt guilty about abandoning her mother.

Latifah felt compelled to be a good daughter to her mother and took care of her when she suffered a heart attack. Jo reaches out to Latifah when she gets engaged to Martin.

When Jo and Latifah reconnect, this opens old wounds for Latifah and for Jo, unearthing family secrets long buried.

Latifah makes her first appearance on Friday 25 February and Fareeha on Friday 11 March.
