27-year-old student athlete Nthabii Mothutsi became a casualty of what we like to call Improvisation Invisibility on Sunday night when she was booted from the Big Brother house.
What happened to her has happened to many others and you only need to ask an actor to know what
actually occurred.
The key reason housemates gave for nominating her was because she'd become so close to Mphowabadimo, with some suggesting she'd morphed into Mpho and did what she said.
In her post-eviction interview Nthabii mentioned that the reason she'd become close with Mpho was because she was the only one who'd really listened to her when she first moved into the house a week after everyone else.
She said everyone had been very loud but it was Mpho who heard her, which reveals that Nthabii didn't stand a chance of being included in the same way as the others.
Similar to Vyno Miller who's also toast after arriving on the scene late.
Interestingly it's a phenomenon that often happens when a group of actors do an open type of improvisation e.g. while creating a play or exploring a theme actors might do a spontaneous acting scene without a script. Sometimes actors are asked to do group improvisations at auditions.
The pitfall of this is that loudmouths get louder and leave no room for others to contribute because the loudmouths want to be noticed.
It's very difficult to assert your independent power when you walk into that type of situation, especially after it's already been going on for a week and this must be what happened to Nthabii.
Not that we're excusing the fact that she clung to Mpho for safety and a sense of belonging but it is understandable and it's a pity because Nthabii had a weird and unusual quality. Somewhat withdrawn but then suddenly guffawing and slapping her very long leg at the mention of her cuckolded boyfriend.
Ultimately she would have had a good sleep on Sunday night because it must be exhausting to spend weeks with a group who don't want you to steal their limelight.
10 loudmouths remain.
