Blame it on their short, uncreative teasers!

That's our take on DiepCity's cancellation, which has just been announced by Mzansi Magic.

It's ending in March 2023 and will get its full second season of 240 episodes.

It launched in April 2021 with 779,806 viewers for its most watched episode and has since gone up and down, between 570,000 and 880,000 viewers e.g. it attracted 829,222 viewers in April 2022 so it hasn't done a nose dive.

Of course Mzansi Magic hasn't gone into the exact details as to why it's ending, but they give a vaguely similar reason to Legacy, which was guided by the secret surveys we told you about HERE.

This from the DiepCity press release:

As Mzansi Magic continues to keep up with the ever-evolving tastes and viewing patterns of audiences, the channel and business will maintain a working relationship Black Brain Pictures, the production house behind DiepCity. Other past collaborations with the company include the acclaimed dramas Vula Vala and Lockdown.

How do you feel about it ending? Is it an important part of your life or will you be happy for something new?

I lost count on shows MultiChoice cancelled this year. It looks like MultiChoice has gotten into a cancellation spree. Do they even care about viewer retention, when they clean house like this? There's already a good passionate audience size coming in for this show compared to when it started. I didn't care about this show when it started, because it was so dark; but I grown to love it.

At this point, I am considering cancelling my subscription and just stick with Netflix and Disney+. The content and quality from Mzansi has dropped compared to that of the 90s and 80s.
