here, isiXhosa telenovela Gqeberha: The Empire premieres on Monday 16 January at 21h00, with new episodes Mondays to Fridays.
It's produced by Tshedza Pictures (The River, Giyani, Legacy) and set in the Eastern Cape - the first Mzansi Magic novela to be filmed entirely in the area.
This is the official synopsis:
Gqeberha: The Empire is about a man who seemingly has it all: family, love, money, power, glory and respect.
Luzuko Mxenge is a successful businessman who is husband to three very different, very strong wives: Bulelwa, Zimkhita and Nozuko.
What more could he want? Another wife, for starters.
His decision to expand the family soon threatens to bring out the bitterness his wives have long suppressed - but also comes with complications no one could have predicted, endangering his relationship with his heir apparent.
Will the Mxenge empire continue to thrive, or will in-fighting make it easier for enemies to infiltrate, bringing about the family’s downfall?
The series follows themes of dynasty, family, love, betrayal, polygamy and jealousy.
Now you see what we mean about the parallels with Musaville. A successful businessman. His desire to add an extra wife to his cocktail. A bitter response from his collection of wives, who are played by:
Zikhona Sodlaka as Bulelwa and,
The Queen's Zandile Msutwana as Zimkhita and,
Kay Bikitsha as Nozuko.
It's a Queen reunion. They're joined by fellow alumni Phila Madlingozi and Zenande Mfenyana's sister Akhe, who played Lucky's widowed wife back in 2017.
Also headlining: Anele Matoti of Recipes for Love and Murder, Shooting Stars, Shado's and Interrogation Room.
Will you be tuning in?
