Evictees Justin, Blaqboi and Thabang
The screams of the Big Brother Titans rent-a-crowd audience at the start of the Sunday's final eviction show were spine chilling, capturing the horror we were feeling exactly.
The first one or two screams sounded sort of excited but by the third one, they sounded like they were in pain. "Aaaaaaaaaah," they screamed as we sat clutching our remote control, ready to escape to another channel as soon as the relentless rinse and repeat moments hit the show.
As per usual the eviction was crammed with them, emphasising what a persistent and cruel problem they've been throughout the series.
This has been the storyboard of every episode:
1. Ebuka looks fabulous in flowing robes that fit him well and Lawrence looks as if he's been dressed by a circus.
2. Buy, BUY,
BUY!!! It's all the show wants us to do at any given point. If they aren't selling us a product or company during the adverts, they're doing it in the endless task recaps that make up such a large part of the show and if they aren't doing it there, Ebuka and Lawrence are doing it after ad breaks. It's truly exhausting.
So much pressure to
do and to be something we're told we must be and to
spend. No wonder the housemates are tired. It's
too much, and it's not escapism or entertainment.
3. Cue Justin and all the other evicted housemates who've clearly felt it's "amazing" to be out of the house - Justin's words, not ours.
Lawrence and Ebuka even mentioned how happy both him and Yellowboi seemed after their eviction, despite the fact that they only had one more week to go.
4. The constant churning of that bizarre stage backdrop of the planets and desert.
Why? Week after week they churn, with no change nor clarity as to what they mean.
5. Triangle, TRIANGLE,
TRIANGLE!!! They just won't stop about this. No matter which housemate gets evicted, it's all they get asked about. Their supposed love triangles, which has been the only narrative storyline of the season. The same one for every housemate except Justin.
Poor Thabang tried to change the record on Sunday during his post-eviction interview but he couldn't. It was literally impossible because it's all he was asked about. Also, he was cut off when he was just about to say something insightful and unique.
He started saying, "I struggled trusting her (Nelisa) more than anything. I was someone who paid a lot of attention to the things that happened in the house and I figured she would have come clean with a few things".
What he said next would have been interesting but instead of listening to him, he was interrupted. They started playing clips from his time in the house and never returned to what he was about to say.
6. The Misery situation on Channel 198 remains the same throughout the show:
Which leads us to what was actually new on Sunday:
1. Thabang seemed genuinely disappointed that he'd been evicted. The first housemate in forever to convey this. He also seemed keen to speak about his emotional process in the house but wasn't given the opportunity to.
2. Twitter was side lined. No more comments included. The elimination of three housemates has obviously contributed to this because there's less time but also, let's not forgot that Tweeps got into trouble two weeks ago for not using the "official hashtag". #BBTitians.
3. Uh.................. no, can't think of anything else.
