Schedule alert!
It's a month of primetime premieres on e.tv this April as Durban Gen and Imbewu wrap their storylines in a parcel of Series Finales.
As you know if you've been
HERE, new telenovela Nikiwe replaces Durban Gen once it ends, starting on Monday 17 April at 18h30.
Jump to Monday 17 April at 21h00 and the channel's other new show also features a woman as the lead character.
Smoke & Mirrors replaces Imbewu and centres round Thandiswa, who's on a mission to clean up the small mining town of Emnyameni.
She's a hairdresser by day, an escort by night, and she wants to rid the town of “The Unholy Trinity”, a group of morally corrupt men who run it.
It has Vintage TV vibes that instantly reminded us of Isidingo because of it being set in a mining town and it turns out the Vintage feels are real because it's been created, produced and written by Loyiso Maqoma, who was a resident writer on Isidingo.
Flashback >> to 2008 when TVSA featured a story about his appointment at the time:
Isidingo Signs New Resident Writer
Flashforward >> 15 years and Loyiso has his own series after being the head writer on multiple shows - including Imbewu.
Pic of Loyiso from a Cloud Atlas video at a
screenwriting workshop where he taught a master class.
He's also been head writer on Gold Diggers, Scandal!, e.tv drama series The Kingdom - uKhakhayi and he's written for Muvhango.
He's created Smoke & Mirrors for The Final Chapter Production house.
