Shocker! e.tv pulls Durban Gen from primetime a week before it ends

Season 1, Episode 1. Remember?

Wow, just wow. Talk about a slap in the face for the production, cast and viewers who are still watching. It's such a loud slap it could wake a comatose patient!

If you're a Durban Gen fan who's stuck with the show for the 639 episodes so far, it pains us to bring you this news...

And if you're someone who couldn't wait for it to end, well, this will be tonic...

e.tv's yanking Durban Gen from primetime a week before it ends and they're giving the first run final episodes to eExtra.

As if that isn't a big enough snub to loyal e.tv viewers and the production, they're relegating the final five episodes to late night at 22h30.

It's been elbowed out of its 18h30 timeslot early by new series Nikiwe, which will start on e.tv on 17 April and Durban Gen will be on eExtra at 22h30 from Monday to Friday of that week.

At first we almost had heart failure because this means that Durban Gen fans can't watch the end unless they pay for an Openview decoder if they don't have one, but it's not that low thankfully.

An omnibus of the final five episodes will air on e.tv on Sunday 23 April from 12h30, which still isn't great for those who don't have Openview and now have to spend their Sunday lunch catching up, if there isn't loadshedding.

We shudder to think what those five episodes must be like considering this turn of events. Maybe they're trying to hide them?

Or perhaps they want people to get Openview just to see them, which is like asking for a tip for a cancelled service, or they might want to ensure eyeballs for Nikiwe and don't want the Durban Gen audience to flee once it hits the Death Knoll, which is literally going to happen.

Here's a teaser for the Series Finale:

Dr Mbali found love after losing her traditionally chosen husband. She was forced to remarry, but this didn’t work out. She bravely tries to continue on her journey but the story of her life is about to end... after her passing and upon arrival in heaven or wherever she went, she makes her return back to earth, where she is reunited with the first love of her life.

it is a bit disappointing and shocking that it is a last chapter because we were now getting happy for Mbali that she finally got a lover that supports her
