Supermarket Stakeout 6
Channel: Food Network (DStv 175)
TX Time: 17h00
Genre: Reality Competition, Food
Supermarket Stakeout is back with a new season that includes an all-star four-part Judges' Tournament.
In each episode hosted by Alex Guarnaschelli, chefs square off in three themed cooking rounds outside a real-life supermarket in a parking lot pop-up kitchen that has everything but a pantry.
To secure ingredients, competitors must be strategic and persuasive with a $500 budget to negotiate items out of exiting customers' carts.
Each week a rotating panel of judges determine which chef made the most successful dishes and is awarded enough cash for a year's worth of groceries.
As part of the new season, Supermarket Stakeout judges become competitors in a four-episode tournament for a chance to win $25,000 cash and $25,000 to be donated to No Kid Hungry.
All-star chefs battling it out in the parking lot are Antonia Lofaso, Eric Greenspan, Aarti Sequeira, Joe Sasto, Gabriele Bertaccini, Damaris Phillips, Viet Pham, Karen Akunowicz and Zac Young.
In the Season 6 premiere, "Judges Takeover Heat No. 1: Welcome to the Asphalt Jungle": The tables are turned as Alex asks judges Eric Greenspan, Antonia Lofaso and Aarti Sequeira to step away from the judges' table and cook their way to a spot in the Judges Takeover Tournament finale.
It's time to take a trip, and the first stakeout starts in Chinatown.
Then, they must create a plate that transports judges Rocco DiSpirito and Lesley Suter to the tropics before Alex challenges the chefs to turn the parking lot into a Parisian patisserie.
