Ngikhethele
Channel: Mzansi Wethu (DStv 163)
TX Time: 19h30
Genre: Dating Game Show, Reality
This arranged marriage show presents a unique approach to finding your happily ever after.
Ngikhethele follows the whirlwind journey of eight singles who, disillusioned by modern dating, turn to their families in search of their ideal life partners.
However, families must solely rely on meeting and vetting potential spouses' families, without direct interaction with the potential suitors themselves.
The process starts with families visiting the Ngikhethele lounge to establish their preferences and criteria for a match for their son.
Next, two families are picked for initial dates.
After the dates, the families move on to the home date phase, with the groom's family visiting the top two homes and vice versa.
The true essence of Ngikhethele lies in the final decision-making process where families select their preferred match for the singles.
Once decided, a letter is sent to the bride's family for ukucela ubuhlobo, and the bride's family has the option to accept or decline.
The show culminates in the highly anticipated lobola day, where both families gather to celebrate the engagement.
The couple is brought together for the first time, and they spend three weeks in a trial home to assess their compatibility.
On the eve of lobola day, preparations begin as the families come together to negotiate and finalise the marriage arrangements.
The ultimate decision to marry rests with the couple, allowing them to determine their future together.
Are You the One? 4
Channel: eReality (Openview 108)
TX Time: 23h05
Genre: Dating Game Show, Reality Competition
Ten single women and 10 single men undergo a rigorous matchmaking process involving in-depth interviews and compatibility testing, using a team of professional matchmakers and psychologists, as well as the contestants' family, friends and exes.
Using this feedback, an ideal match for each person is selected and the results are kept secret.
The singles then meet for the first time in a house on an exotic island and begin their quest to find their perfect match.
If all 10 couples successfully find each other within 10 attempts, they'll walk away not only with love, but their share of one million dollars.
Season 4 will feature a game-changing twist that for the first time will truly test the theory, "If your perfect match was standing right in front of you, would you even know it?"
On day one, immediately after meeting in a house in Hawaii, 10 single women will line up across from 10 single men and the group will be asked who believes in "love at first sight."
The first three people to raise their hands and acknowledge their belief in the notion will be asked to walk over to their potential perfect match.
The three couples will then go on dates as the rest of the cast deliberates which couple to send to the first truth booth of the season.
If the couple is determined to be a match, not only will they prove that love at first sight is possible but, $250,000 will also be added to the million-dollar jackpot.
The first perfect match will then set off to spend the rest of their time in the remote honey moon suite.
Throughout the season, the couples will be forced to rule with both their heads and their hearts if they hope to succeed in love and money.
If at any point during the weekly matchup ceremonies the singles fail to make at least one perfect match (known in the game as a "blackout"), the group will be penalised with the loss of $250,000.
What does that mean? Four blackouts means no jackpot.
If all 10 couples successfully find each other, they'll walk away not only with love, but their share of one million dollars.
