Wie Was Dit?

A new competition show for lovers of true crime and police dramas.

We all know someone who's good at solving the fictional crimes they see on TV.

In this show, we'll set out to see if these "couch detectives" are truly as smart as they claim to be.

Four couch detectives will check into a hotel in a sleepy countryside town and, in each episode, they will be presented with a fictional crime that they need to solve.

The contestant who cracks the most cases by the end of the season is the winner.

This season is hosted by Francois Jacobs and will feature celebrity contestants including Die Brug's Avril Albetti who's been nominated for a Silwerskerm award for Personality of the Year.

Cursed Histories

Channel: HISTORY (DStv 186)
TX Time: 21h05
Genre: Documentary Series, Supernatural, History

Cursed Histories

Cursed Histories unravels the histories and legends that unleashed a wave of misfortune into the world.

These tales of intrigue, heartbreak and deception are so tragic people still speak of the sinister forces surrounding them.

Was it bad luck…or something more sinister?

Harrowing tales linger like a poisonous cloud around places, people and objects that seem fraught with misfortune.

A cursed item, a dangerous locale, or a dread-filled warning spark a series of tragedies and hardships.

Too disturbing to be coincidence, what's the truth behind history's most macabre timelines?

As we separate myth, legend and lore from reality, we break down the most dreadful of curses.

From an insect-like man who brought tragedy to a small town, to a bloody signature that spelled disaster for a whole city, history brims with stories of wickedness inflicted on the living.

What's the truth behind the stories of the afflicted - whom did curse victims unwittingly anger? And what set off a dark chain of events?

Each episode explores three shocking, eerie and unnerving curses and their respective tales of woe.

We set the historical scene and watch as chaos is unleashed.

As mere happenstance moves towards paranormal interference, we are left feeling ill at ease - how can we use logic to dispel the eerie lore surrounding history's deadliest curses?

In the series premiere, "The Iceman's Curse": A gruesome story penned on a centuries-old scroll makes its way across Europe and leaves a trail of misfortune in its wake.

Meanwhile, a stone-age mummy emerges from the icy alps and unleashes a spell of death for those who dare get too close.

Also, an ancient city in Afghanistan is reduced to rubble, but the souls of its former citizens remain eternally screaming in the dead of the night.

In the second episode of the weekdays double bill, "Abandon All Hope Diamond": The Hope diamond, once ripped from the mines in India, makes its way across the world, leaving behind a trail of misfortune and death.

The remains of William Shakespeare are at the centre of centuries-old rumours suggesting someone ignored the bard's warning and stole his skull.

A powerful and protective god enacts consequences on those who dare to steal from the island he shaped so many centuries ago.

Finally, what curses are triggered when sacred items are stolen from their homes?
