NORTH
It's been more than three years since Queen of the South aired on Telemundo and now it's back for Season 3.
It premieres on Monday 9 September at 22h00, replacing
The People's Doctor and adds an extra year to reality.
The action picks up four years after Season 2.
SOUTH
In case you don't remember it (who could blame you?) or if you haven't seen it yet... the series is based on the novel by Spanish author Arturo Pérez-Reverte and follows Teresa Mendoza, who becomes the most powerful drug trafficker in southern Spain after fleeing from Mexico.
She set-up her operation in Season 1 in 2011, after losing two men that she loved.
When the series began she was in love with a pilot who worked for the Mexican cartels. Baddo mistako but you can't help who you fall in love with, right?
Or can you?
He was murdered by the cartels and Teresa fled to Spain to avoid the same thing happening to her.
She tried to start a new life but soon became entangled in narcotics in Spain too. After facing more trials and tribulations and the loss of another love she decided to take the power into her own hands and set up her own organisation with the help of a woman she met in prison.
Season 2 was set eight years after Season 1. Teresa took her profits and escaped to Italy to retire but was forced back into the world of drug trafficking when her daughter Sofia was kidnapped.
EAST
And now, in Season 3, she's been in prison for four years - in solitary confinement. Speaking to no-one and isolated after being accused of killing three DEA agents.
She makes a dramatic escape and becomes involved in a new and unexpected alliance, risking her life on a journey across Latin America and attacking the DEA in a way that no one dared to imagine.
Her chances of survival are slim. The decision to fight is absolute. Finally, Teresa can see the goal she longs for: leaving her past behind to clear her name and live a peaceful life with her daughter.
WEST
Kate del Castillo reprises her role as Teresa and Isabella Sierra returns as her daughter Sofia.
The season was filmed in six countries, including Bolivia.
Interesting to note is that Season 1 was produced by Telemundo solo and Seasons 2 and 3 are a co-production between Telemundo and Netflix.
The original Spanish title is La Reina del Sur.
