2024 Emmy Awards: Biggest snub, biggest win, biggest eyeroll

The moment before

The TV stars of Tinseltown turned up for their 76th Emmy statues on Sunday 15 September, after spending hours working on their facial expressions in the event of a loss.

So we don't know that for sure but they must surely. Cameras capturing your every expression, whoops of joy for the winner from their allies - you've got to keep it together if the winner isn't you and that takes forethought and practice.

Expressions of "I'm so glad it's not me *clap clap*," just don't work.

The moment after

Which brings us to the Biggest Snub of the ceremony which aired live in South Africa on M-Net at 02h00 this morning (16 September) - it rebroadcasts at 21h00 tonight.

The Biggest Snub goes to the actresses on The Morning Show who didn't win a thing. Six of them were nominated across the Best Lead and Supporting Actress categories which were by won Shogun's Anna Sawai and The Crown's Elizabeth Debicki, who played Princess Diana.

The Crown won too much - a total of three but it shouldn't have won at all. We didn't trust its' point of view because it celebrated Charles.

But it doesn't get our Biggest Eyeroll award. This goes to: The Bear which dominated the comedy categories. Crazy that we would turn on it, yes, because we've always raved about it but then Season 3 happened.

These awards are for Season 2, which was funny, but we're struggling to finish the new season because of how serious and depressing it is and it's how we currently view the show. Season 3 isn't as a comedy, it's a tragic drama.

Which brings us to Biggest Win, which can only go to drama Shogun because it rightfully grabbed the most. 18 hoorahs in total. What a show. We can't wait for Season 2 but a dark cloud hangs over it because of Toda Mariko's death - Anna Sawai had to win now.

Here's a wrap of all of the winners and nominees in the main categories, with the winners highlighted in red and bold, and tallies at the end:
