If you want to set yourself free by ditching your cellphone, this is for You.
No phones, no more pressure to reply to WhatsApp messages and no more spending your own cash on groceries.
That's what you get if you move into the Big Brother house.
Of course you also spend 24 hours a day with annoying people who you can't escape - so you lose some/you win some when you're a housemate.
Big Brother Mzansi's been renewed for another season and the search is on for those who want to move in...
Who is the production looking for?
You need to be 21 or older on 1 January 2025.
You must be a South African citizen or permanent resident of South Africa as of 1 October 2024 and need to be in possession of a valid identity document.
The show's looking for dynamic individuals who are articulate, interesting and exhibit enthusiasm for the show as well as a willingness to share their most private thoughts in an open forum of strangers.
You'll also need to have sufficient physical, psychological, and mental capacity to endure approximately 100 days in a monitored house under extraordinary conditions.
What will you win?
There's no mention of what the prize will be but we presume it to be the usual R2-million because it would suck if it were less.
What must you do?
You need to fill in the entry form on the Big Brother website here >>
Big Brother Mzansi
You also need to create and upload a two-minute video showing what you're made of and explaining why your presence in the house is essential.
This is what you should include in the vid:
1. Video must be maximum 2 minutes in length.
2. It should end with you completing the sentence: "I would make a perfect housemate because..."
3. It must contain your Name, E-mail and Phone Number clearly stated.
4. Avoid all forms of filters, special video effects, copyrighted music and background music.
Tips on making your vid
This from the producers Red Pepper Pictures:
1. Be yourself! We want to get to know who you are as a person. How will your life experience help you win Big Brother? How will you interact with the other housemates?
When describing yourself, remember to cite real life examples.
We love a good story!
2. Making a casting video is not about putting together the best skit or wearing the wackiest costumes. We’re looking for real people and we want to see the real you.
3. If you come from a unique region or area of the country, talk about where you’re from, how it’s a part of your personality, or how it may help you do well on Big Brother.
If you have an interesting job, talk about your job and how those skills may help you win the show.
4. Hold camera steady.
5. If shooting indoors, make sure to shoot in a well lit room with lights in front of you to light your face.
6. Shoot during the day so we can see you instead of trying to see you in the dark.
7. Speak loudly and clearly.
8. Find a relatively quiet area to shoot your video so ambient noises won’t distract from what you’re saying.
9. Your video may be shown on a TV. Please shoot your video like you would see it on a TV. Please shoot landscape (horizontal) and not portrait (vertical) style.
What to expect
If you're selected for the next phase of auditions you'll be informed by 22 December 2024. If you
don't receive an email by the date, you haven't been selected unfortunately.
You might be asked to do another video audition if you reach this round.
If you're selected for the semi-final round of auditions, you must be willing and able to travel to Johannesburg for the final selection process.
