This surprising but good news just in... SABC1's debuting a new telenovela this April 2025.

It's been too long since this has happened and it lifts our spirits to know that there's something coming that isn't a repeat.

Here's a quick flash of the first tidbits:

It's titled Amalanga Awafani and produced by Stained Glass TV (Uzalo, Durban Gen).

It's going to air Mondays to Fridays in Skeem Saam's former timeslot of 18h30.

It asks this question: “If you suddenly came into some extra millions, what would you buy? A new car, luxury fashion, high-end appliances or the best experiences money can afford?”

What is it about? It isn’t just about newfound riches - it’s about choices and desires.

Who is it for? According to the channel, it's going to be a socially relevant show that resonates with a rural, peri-urban and urban audiences.

Aaaand the TV wars begin! With Isiphetho ending this April making way for another e.tv telenovela, and Sibongile and the Dlaminis fighting for the 18:30 throne, one can only wonder who will reign supreme. This is going to get messy. On a related note, finally SABC has delivered one of the long-form dramas they've promised, and by extension, one of the shows they've promised to introduce in their content showcase. So, kudos to the SABC. They delivered…eventually, like after a year or two.

Gosh Stained Glass produces horrible shows! Im glad sabc has something new for a change. They should have given this project to a fresh Production company. Im hoping they will prove me wrong ??‍??
