CALL ME a conspiracy theorist, but I have a sneaky suspicion that SABC powers-that-be are trying to convert every South African viewer into an Isidingo fan.
Why else would they schedule episodes of the local soap no less than three times each weekday, coupled with a further three hours to wade through on Sunday?
Granted the episodes are tiered, meaning you can watch Monday’s episode on Wednesday morning, Tuesday’s episode on Wednesday afternoon and Wednesday’s episode on Wednesday night.
(This is handy information to keep in mind next time you have the day off work.)
And if you really are an Isidingo fan, you can even catch an omnibus – all the week’s episodes in one giant stretch – Sunday mornings on SABC3 at 11am, sport permitting.
What can this mean?
Is there such a demand from South Africans for Tim, Maggie, Cherel and company that they feel they must supply re-runs ad infinitum?
Of course, the flip side of being on the receiving end of all these repeats is that you cannot avoid watching the goings- on at Horizon Deep even if you wanted to.
I was a huge Isidingo fan until recently. I’ve since lost interest and, to be blunt, I’m over it. So whereas in the past I welcomed all the Isidingo episodes, I’m finding their dominance of the TV schedules a bit ridiculous.
