EPISODE 13That had to be the mind-warpiest reward in Survivor history. The enormity of the dilemma within the space of fifteen minutes was brilliant and proved without a doubt just how cursed those hulking cars really are.
Cindy defs made the biggest mistake of her life deciding to keep that car for herself - I’m convinced that if she’d given the cars to the other four she’d have been there until the final two.
When Jeff first mentioned the idea of the car-curse as he handed her the keys I had a chortle at it sounding super while obviously being such rubbish but then as things unfolded it all incredibly revealed that the cause-and-effect of curses exist in a big way.
I just didn’t understand how Cindy could be okay with the idea that every time she gets into her car she’ll have the snagging feeling about what she had to do in order to keep it.
Sure she won the challenge but it was over in a couple of moments whereas the guilty feeling of taking away a car from four people would have to last forever. Freaking about it just wouldn’t be worth the superior road holding she was bragging about.
Also, as cool as driving a new car would be it couldn’t possibly be as excellent as knowing that four other people got new cars and were scootling around because of you. Being responsible for this is a rare once-in-a-lifetime opportunity yet owning a new car isn’t. Millions of people get to do it everyday whereas – as Cindy herself said – only Oprah gets to give away loads of Pontiacs.
The way she justified keeping the car for herself really annoyed me - how could she be so defeatedly sure that she’d never be able to get a new one? Her lack of faith in the universe was very slapworthy I thought and as a result she needed to be whacked– which she then re-proved as she left and said she’d loathe everyone while gloating under her special sunroof.
Cindy misread them all completely because none of them are the types who’d have taken the cars and not given her some kind of credit for it. There are obviously Pigs amongst them, but even so, there’s no ways they’d have voted her out immediately after. Rafe even went so far as to say he'd never have voted for her and he's very influential which means he'd definitely have influenced others.
If she'd given them the cars they’d all have been finished, her status would have gone up the wazoo, their entire attitude towards her would have changed and they’d all have felt too bad to vote her off. Not only that but not one of them would think she didn’t deserve the million.
The moment Cindy chose the car above them there was no ways they were gonna give her a shot at the win – their thinking obviously being “Why should we if she’s already got a car?” They’re just such yawny things why anyone would get more excited at winning one instead of winning a million bucks on Survivor is beyond me.
I also don’t like how it put Pontiac so in control. This is the main reason I would have given it away – to make Pontiac pay for every instance of product placement by making them fork out for four cars instead of one. To be able to control them like this and get the better end of the pennies for once would
so be worth it.
I’d be convinced that if I did, them being them, they’d want their name mentioned a lot, so they’d probably have the car waiting for me for once the show was over. If Cindy had given it away I reckon we would have seen it in her clutches again or something similar.
I'm sure if she'd given them the cars it would have resulted in the mojo of karma killing the curse and that something even better would have happened for her afterwards. She should have taken this risk and if it didn't work out – so what?
