Teba Shumba is the “Original Social worker” also known as “The Shepherd”. This talented musician was born in Gugulethu and since his teens has been using music as his weapon of choice.
“The situation people find themselves in inspires me to write this music. It is this music that could save me from the struggle of the township.”
His mission is to revive the SA revolutionary spirit, emphasizing the struggle towards achieving global humanitarianism.
Chris Chameleon is as diverse as his name indicates. Born in Johannesburg, he exploded onto the stage in 1989 when he won the first DALRO national acting competition.
He has performed as both lead and supporting actor in more than 30 television series, videos and motion pictures. He became the front man and bassist for the highly acclaimed monki punk trio “Boo!”.
At the end of 2004 the resignation of his two fellow monki punkers put Chris on a new path to pursue a solo career. His tribute to the Afrikaans poetess Ingrid Jonker in “Ek Herhaal Jou” was a hit and he recently released two new CD’s, Shine and a compilation of his songs from the hit SABC soapie 7de Laan, “7de Hemel”.
Headwrap ask Teba and Chris to combine their artistic styles and produce a performance which fuses poetry and music. This performance will be done in front of an audience of Chris’ dedicated fans at the Dorpstraat Theatre in Stellenbosch.
