EPISODE 1: PART 2Those munchkin faces of Austin and Ken Black's were overwhelming in how much they needed a snuggle as they said their goodbyes. I hadn't considered that this would be such a real feeling of this new family format.
It was amazing how different it was seeing them get the thunk in contrast with grown-ups who are always a Pig for one reason or another.
Usually I'm madly chuckling away, wildy calling out "Get out!" while Phil does his sob story at the end but it was just impossible with the two sweet youngsters.
Luckily I was able to let rip after it all sank in and they'd stopped crying 'cos it was 100% their father's fault that they came last the way they did.
The way he took huge pauses with everything he did and kept forcing them all into group hugs from the moment they started right up until the end when he slooped dejectedly behind them was just rubbish. More oomph and less sentimentality from him during key moments and they could have made up for their disastrous river crossing.
This is how it all started - with the Black family stuck in the river, eventually managing to get across while the first lead families reached the overnight camp site and set up tents, which they got from creepy scouts.
I wouldn't trust a scout ever - espesh if they're the type who goes on to become a scout master. There was one who used to live up the road from me and he was soo twisted you have no idea. I'd always see him trudging off to the scout hall on Friday nights when he should have been out razzing, glaring out from behind a long fringe that defs had issues with chicks.
I always assumed he had an overbearing mother and I was obviously right if the Fattis and Moanies Paolo brothers being scouts too is anything to go by. As for that mother losing the clue - it showed mega amounts of disrespect for the race I thought and for that I'd like to see the back of her spagetti butt as soon as possible.
After a sleep the families left the camp site at different times and had to drive to find Brubaker Family farm at a place called Mount Joy, Amish Country.
For some reason I thought the Amish lived much further out the central action of things - like in the hills, a six hour drive away from all human life sort of thing.
Thankfully there were none of them around as the teams tackled either building a windmill or pulling a heavy buggy thing which hysterically went out of control and drove over the Weaver mother. I lurved every moment particularly with it happening directly after a whammy of all that Jesus mumbo jumbo they've got going on.
I must say they did manage to pull it together decisively well when they decided to build the windmill instead and I found it really dfficult to decide who the lesser of the two evils were when they faced the Gaghan's for second position.
I have noo time for the Gaghan's at all - both them and their kids over-act all the time and I would way rather have seen the Linz's beating them in the buggy.
The way the Linz's farted and hurled away their muscly perfection impressed me a lot and made me warm up to them. I also liked how the one brother told the other that the Sex And The City Godlewski's were way out of his league.
I was thrilled that the sisters managed to kickbutt themselves out of nowhere and zing to the finish with so much energy and strength. I don't even know when it happened nor how they managed it but one moment they were lagging behind at the river and the next they were out front winning the first leg and 5000 bucks each - I assume they're gonna split it.
I think they were focused on making good decisions each moment and they also seem very sorted with their driver and sense of direction.
Alo surprising were the Rogers family who didn't exist until they finished fourth. I'd never seen them before until they finished and reckon the son's way too old to be doing family things.
From the looks of the promo for next week it's the same situation with the Bransen dad and his girls. What's up with dads letting their teams down so frequently without any fuss about feeling bad? This is isn't the first season it's happened either.
The one dad who does seem to get it together - despite looking like he couldn't - is Tony Aiello Soprano. I found that despite his family being Mafioso I was quite disappointed when they lost their lead to finish eighth.
Here's the order of how things ended:
1.
The Godlewski Family2.
The Gaghan Family3.
The Weaver Family4.
The Rogers Family5.
The Schroeder Family6.
The Paolo Family7.
The Bransen Family8.
The Aiello Family9.
The Linz Family10.
The Black Family
