Bio
Ruan Burger is a South African actor and stuntman best known for his role as cricketer Eugene Fouché in the television drama series Erfsondes, directed by Bobby Heaney, on SABC2.
After school, in 1999, Ruan joined the South African Navy and qualified as a Naval Officer. During this time he developed a keen interest in Diving.
After serving out his two year contract as Naval Officer, he went on to qualify as a Commercial Diver and PADI Scuba Dive Instructor. This allowed him to work with various Stunt Companies often doing underwater and topside rigging and/or stunts.
He has also acted in the kykNET drama series Transito and the kykNET sitcom Deeltitel Dames. He also played the role of De Waal on the SABC2 soapie 7de Laan, from 2004-2005.
In 2010 he played the supporting role of Werner in the film Getroud met Rugby: Die Onvertelde Storie (Married to Rugby: The Untold Story) and in 2008 the character Stef in the local, multi-award winning play Festen, an adaption of the Danish film The Celebration.
International Films he acted in include The Secret Agent, 3 Days to Jones Town and The World Unseen. He also worked as a stuntman on The Flood, Blast Ultimatum, Red Water and Nebula of the Ring.
In addition, Ruan has appeared in a number of television commercials for clients including Johnson & Johnson (worldwide), Uni-Credit (Russia), More than Insurance (UK), Tac-Tac (Poland), Futura Fruit Juice (Poland), Ocean Spray (USA) and Bells Whiskey (South Africa).
In 2005 he was nominated for a South African Crystal Award in the category Best Newcomer: Stage and Screen.
