Bio
Nandie Mnyani is a South African actress and singer who has had minor roles in the SABC1 mini-series Society and After 9, both in 2007. She was also a featured performer in a national television commercial for Southern Sun hotels.
Born and raised in Butterworth in the Eastern Cape, Nandie attended Zazulwana Secondary school and later did her high schooling at Msobomvu Senior Secondary.
From 1997-2002 she did a Performers' Diploma in Music at the University of Cape Town, majoring in jazz studies. She followed up with a Bachelor of Music degree (hons) from 2003-2004, specialising in Performance and doing extensive research in Engcobo Eastern Cape about Xhosa traditional wedding songs.
Nandie has extensive musical experience, performing at numerous venues around the country. She was the lead singer with Earthtones, the resident band at Manenberg Jazz café in Cape Town; and is currently performing with Johannesburg based Jazz-Fusion band The Number Blue, as a lead singer.
She has also performed with the Eli Amor band, the Women Unite marimba band, the Gcobani Mhlabeni band and others. She has performed at events such as the Fair Lady fashion show, the Chivas Regal Talent Showcase, the Grahamstown Arts Festival, the Safa Awards and the 10 years of democracy celebrations held by the Dept of Foreign Affairs in Cape Town.
She has also done voiceover work on radio, had minor roles in the SABC1 mini-series Society and After 9, appeared in a number of commercials and stage plays.
Other jobs she has taken include an assistant trainee music compiler for UCT Radio, a judge on the SABC Radio Voice of Choice talent search 2004 and a production assistant on the Shoprite Checkers/SABC 2 Woman of the Year 2005, among others.
She currently resides in Sandton, Johannesburg.
