Bio
David Costabile is an American actor best known for his recurring television roles on The Wire (as Thomas Klebanow, managing editor of the Baltimore Sun), Flight of the Conchords (as Doug), Damages (as Detective Rick Messer), and Breaking Bad (as Gale Boetticher).
He also has a starring role as Simon Boyd - a member of the Detroit Police Department's Internal Affairs Division who is investigating the murder of Brendan McCann - in the American remake of the British crime drama miniseries Low Winter Sun.
Costabile's film credits include Steven Spielberg's Lincoln and Steven Soderbergh's Side Effects. Other film credits include Solitary Man, Henry's Crime, Notorious, Prime, How the Grinch Stole Christmas and Cradle Will Rock, and director Brad Furman's Runner, Runner.
Costabile's Broadway credits include the Tony Award-winning plays Caroline, or Change and Titanic as well as Translations and The Tempest. Off-Broadway, he has worked at the New York Shakespeare Festival/Public Theater in Caroline, or Change, The Two Gentlemen of Verona, Henry V and Troilus and Cressida.
Other Off-Broadway credits include Mr. Marmalade at the Roundabout Theatre Co., Carnival and Can-Can at the Encores! Series at New York City Center, and The Winter's Tale at Classic Stage Company.
The New Bozena, an original work Costabile co-created, played Off-Broadway at the Cherry Lane Theatre before touring nationally and was eventually developed for Twentieth Century Fox Television.
Regionally, Costabile has worked at the Williamstown Theatre Festival in MA, Westport Country Playhouse in CT, The Hudson Theatre and Ahmanson Theatre in Los Angeles, Emory University in Atlanta and Arena Stage in Washington, D.C.
