Bio
Lady Lea is a well known South African DJ and record label owner who has been a guest DJ at most clubs in all major cities in and around South Africa.
She has toured Europe since 2007, playing in Amsterdam, Ibiza and the UK. Over 1.2 million people danced to her beat at 2007's German Love Parade in 2007 and she also entertained the crowds at the ICC T20 World Cup Cricket matches.
Lea started DJing in 1996 using CD players, then moved on to vinyl one-and-a-half years later. Lea is now playing on both CD players and vinyl.
Her first residency was at DNA in Pretoria; she then got a second residency at ESP in Johannesburg. Since then she has been DJing around the world at various clubs, parties, raves, corporate events, fashion shows, festivals, parades, and sports games.
Lea arrived back in 2003 from spinning in top clubs in the UK, and working in the world’s top music retail store – HMV, as a singles and vinyl buyer.
On the 1st of March 1999, Lea opened a record shop (Flipside Records, and has since converted it into a recording studio and Record label – Flipside Recordings – producing her own music and recording her own albums).
In May 2009, Lady Lea launched the female DJ agency, Divas on Decks. Originally, Lady Lea was part of a group with 3 female DJs called Divas on Decks (Lady Lea, Kate Sutherland & Lalicia). She is the only diva from the group still DJing full time.
The agency/group was formed in order to promote, protect and book female DJs out to gigs that will suit their music and style, as well as having Divas on Decks parties, albums and tours.
The aim of the agency is to promote female DJs and help them reach their full potential and their dreams.
She has had over 20 residencies and has been a guest DJ at almost every club in South Africa.
Lady Lea was one of the celebrity contestants on M-Net's Survivor South Africa: Santa Carolina, in 2010.
