Lori Singer is an American actress and cellist best known for her role as Ariel Moore, the daughter of Reverend Shaw Moore (played by John Lithgow), in the 1984 feature film Footloose.
Singer first shot to fame when she was cast as cellist Julie Miller in the TV series Fame. She then starred in the classic film Footloose.
After Footloose, Singer starred in films, including The Falcon and the Snowman (directed by John Schlesinger and starring Sean Penn) and The Man with One Red Shoe (with Tom Hanks). Her role in Trouble in Mind earned her a nomination for Best Female Lead at the Independent Spirit Awards.
Singer and the cast of Short Cuts won the award for Best Ensemble Cast at the 50th Venice International Film Festival and the 51st Golden Globe Awards.
In January 2008, Singer performed at Carnegie Hall.
