Malcolm Barrett is an American actor best known for his starring role as Lem Hewitt in the television sitcom Better Off Ted, from 2009-2010.
Barrett studied at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts, focusing on acting and directing.
A role on the series Luis brought him to Los Angeles, and since then he has appeared on a number of series as either a regular or guest star, including The Bonnie Hunt Show, Kelsey Grammar Presents: The Sketch Show, Monk, Psych, Ghost Whisperer, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Law & Order, Law & Order: Criminal Intent and The Sopranos.
Feature film credits include My Best Friend's Girl, The Hurt Locker, American Violet, The Rhythm of the Saints, King of the Jungle and Swimfan.
Barrett is a founding member and artistic director of the non-profit New York City theatre company Real Theatreworks Inc.
He received his Equity membership at the age of 16 when he appeared in the McCarter Theatre production of The Stonemason. He later appeared in the national tour of Wit with Judith Light, while simultaneously continuing his education at NYU.
Barrett is also talented in poetry, improvisation and stand-up comedy. Besides becoming a member of the 2001 Nuyorican Slam Poetry team, he was the winner of the Young Playwright competition at the Manhattan Class Company.
