Nyembezi Kunene (1958-2016) was a South African actor and director best known for his role as Jabulani Dlomo, the uncle of Sibusiso (Menzi Ngubane), in the SABC1 soapie Generations, from 2007-2009.
He was previously known for his role as senior hostel security guard Mchunu in the SABC1 sitcom Emzini Wezinsizwa.
He played the role of a rugby coach in the 1995 comedy film Soweto Green.
Nyembezi was nominated for a South African Film and Television Award (SAFTA) as Best Director in a TV Comedy, for his work on Family Bonds.
He played the role of Dlamini in the e.tv drama series eKasi: Our Stories, in the episode entitled "Mkhuseli", in 2010. He played a different character in Season 5 of the show, in 2013.
In 2014 he had a starring role as Thomas Malume in the eKasi+ sitcom Van 'n Sit, returning for the second season in 2015.
Other television series he acted in include the drama series Gaz'lam, Intersexions, Like Father Like Son, It's Complicated, Mfolozi Street, Mzansi Love, Soul City and Umlilo; the comedies Abo Mzala and Single Guys; and the soapies isiBaya, Ring of Lies and Scandal!.
Kunene died at the Lesedi Hospital in Soweto on Saturday 4 June, 2016, after a long battle with diabetes.
