Michelle Morgan is a Canadian actress and singer best known for her starring role as Samantha Louise "Lou" Fleming on the family drama television series Heartland, since 2007.
Michelle is the fourth of six children from a Chilean-Canadian family. She was born in Calgary where her family first settled upon arriving in Canada, and grew up moving between Vancouver and Toronto.
She began her acting career by joining the high school Improvisation team, and went on to study Theatre and Classical Literature at the University of Toronto.
Her first professional acting job was playing a showgirl in a British farce. Michelle began her career on the stage, performing Shakespeare, Ibsen and Chekhov on stages in Toronto.
Her first appearance on the big screen was the lead role of Debra in George A. Romero's Diary of the Dead. The film made its debut at the Toronto International Film Festival and the Sundance Film Festival before being released in spring 2008.
Notable television appearances include the recurring character F.R.A.N on Stargate Atlantis seasons 4 and 5 and guest starring roles on The L Word and The Smart Woman's Survival Guide.
When she's back home in Toronto, Michelle performs sketch comedy at the Laugh Sabbath alternative comedy nights, and has collaborated with comedians Chris Locke and Nathan Fielder on short film projects.
Michelle has a passion for all board sports, growing up snowboarding, later picking up surfing on her travels throughout south and Central America.
She is an avid writer, photographer, yogi and aspiring guitar player and flamenco dancer. She has volunteered with Women's Shelters across Canada, teaching drama and music to resident children.
