Bio
Lauren Bowles is an American actress best known for her recurring role as Holly Cleary, a waitress at Merlotte's who turns out to be a witch, in the television horror series True Blood, from 2010-2014.
This was not the first time Bowles had served at a famous diner. Lauren got her SAG card with a recurring role as a waitress at Monk's (the Seinfeld gang's favourite hang out) where she worked alongside her sister Julia Louis-Dreyfus on the landmark series Seinfeld.
Lauren reunited onscreen again with Julia, this time playing her sister for two seasons in the series Watching Ellie.
She works frequently in episodic television, including Curb Your Enthusiasm, Lie to Me, CSI, Grey's Anatomy, Private Practice, ER, Criminal Minds and Detroit-187.
Her feature roles include The Farrelly Brothers' Hall Pass and The Heartbreak Kid, and The Wayans Brothers' Dance Flick.
Lauren was born in Washington, D.C. Her mother is a writer of short stories and poetry, and her dad is a doctor and Dean of Medicine at George Washington University.
She attended the famous Sidwell Friends (the scholastic home of the Obama girls) and was active in the arts programs. In the school production of The Man Who Came to Dinner, at age 12, she decided she wanted to be an actress.
After graduation, she chose to study theatre at NYU mostly because she fell in love with New York City while visiting Julia on the set of Saturday Night Live.
While at NYU, Lauren met her best friend, Patrick Fischler (Mad Men, Lost) whom she would marry 10 years later. They are the proud parents of Fia Lucille Fischler.
In her spare time, Bowles enjoys meditation, hiking, and yoga. Both Patrick and Lauren consider themselves "foodies". He cooks and she bakes.
