Amor Tredoux is a South African actress, singer and writer best known for her starring role as Magda, the head of the body corporate and owner of half the complex, in the SABC2 sitcom Rasdien, from 2010-2011.
Born in Cape Town in 1955, Tredoux matriculated in 1971. After school she received a B.A. Hons. (cum laude) H.E.D. from the University of Natal.
She joined the old Performing Arts Council of the Transvaal (PACT) from 1977 to 1982, taking part in over 50 stage productions. She has since worked as a freelance artist in film, television, radio and stage as an actress, singer, voice artist, dubbing director, sync translator, lyricist, musical director and scriptwriter.
From 1987 to 1989 she was a member of SleutelGAT Produksies, part of the Alternative Movement in Afrikaans Music performing satirical musical reviews.
From 1997-1998 she was a scriptwriter for DTV (Deaf TV) on SABC. She was responsible for writing the first deaf mini-drama series in the world, Young and Speechless.
She was also a scriptwriter and sub-editor on the long-running M-Net soapie Egoli, from 1998 to 2009.
In 2007 she returned to acting and performed in a supporting role in Katinka Heyns' drama series Feast of the Uninvited, which aired on M-Net.
In 2009 she made a cameo appearance on the SABC2 drama series Erfsondes, in the role of Mariana du Toit. She is a regular cast member of the kykNET sitcom Thysnywerheid, playing the role of Tannie Tilly. The series premiered on 14 October, 2010.
