Lusanda Mbane is a South African entrepreneur, actress, radio personality, speaker and brand ambassador best known for her role as Boniswa Langa on the e.tv soapie Scandal!.
She rose to fame with her role as Naomi Malotana on the SABC1 soapie Generations, from 2010-2011.
Born and raised in Butterworth in the Eastern Cape, Lusanda attended Clarendon Girls' High School in East London. She studied Marketing at Technikon Witwatersrand from 1998 to 2000, and completed the course with UNISA.
She later studied towards a B.Com Marketing, also with UNISA.
Lusanda has played lead roles in a number of advertising campaigns for clients including Knorrox, Kellogg's (Chocos), Brand Power (Ponds), Rama, Milo, Dettol and McCain.
Her voice over work includes clients such as Google, Edgars, KFC, DStv, the IDZ (Industrial Development Zone), SALGA, UIF, Enterprise, Blue Ribbon, Sanlam, African Bank and ECSA, among others.
Since February 2013 she has been the face and voice of the South African Airways in-flight safety video ("Hello, Sawubona and a warm South African welcome to everyone on board").
From 2013–2015, she played the role of MaKhumalo in Vodacom's "Brand Ambassador" family, The Khumalos.
Lusanda's television acting career began with a cameo role as Advocate Macheke on the SABC2 soapie Muvhango, in 2009.
She followed this up with her breakout role as Naomi on Generations (2010-2011) and has since had starring, recurring and guest starring roles in numerous other television series.
She had a guest starring role as Joyce in the Season 11 premiere of the SABC1 drama series Soul City, which aired on 18 October, 2011.
In the same year she landed the starring role of Zodwa, a domestic worker who has come to terms with the fact that she'll never find the man of her dreams, in the SABC1 sitcom Abo Mzala.
Abo Mzala premiered on 5 December, 2011. Lusanda left the show after the first season and was replaced in the role of Zodwa by Thembsie Matu from Season 2 onwards.
Lusanda next played the role of Aliah on the SABC1 drama series Tempy Pushas, which premiered on 15 February, 2013. In the same year she had a cameo as a doctor on the third season of the Mzansi Magic soapie Isibaya.
In July 2016 she had a guest starring role as Penney in a Season 2 episode of the SABC1 romantic comedy series Dream World, which began life as a miniseries adapted from A Midsummer Night's Dream by William Shakespeare.
Also in 2016, she had a guest starring role as Nobuhle Pasha on the third season of the SABC1 legal drama series Sokhulu & Partners.
Later that year she joined the e.tv soapie Scandal! in the major recurring role of Boniswa, making her first appearance in Episode 2,592 on 26 August, 2016.
Just a month later she had a guest starring role as Sis Puleng in an episode of the e.tv drama series Z'bondiwe, appearing in Season 2, Episode 20 (which aired on 20 September, 2016).
In addition to her ongoing role in Scandal!, Lusanda also landed the recurring role of Thembi Mdlalose on the Mzansi Magic soapie Isibaya (a different role to her Season 3 one), making her first appearance in Season 6, Episode 227 (which aired on 22 January, 2019, towards the latter end of the season).
She continued playing the role into Season 7, which began on 11 March, 2019.
In 2021 Lusanda left Scandal! when her character Boniswa was shot for killing her son-in-law Romeo (Hungani Ndlovu).
