Bernie Mac (5 October, 1957 – 9 August, 2008) was an American actor and comedian who gained popularity as a stand-up comedian and was best known as one of the Original Kings of Comedy with Steve Harvey, Cedric the Entertainer, and D.L. Hughley.
In 2008, Mac was admitted to the Northwestern Memorial Hospital in his hometown of Chicago, Illinois. After a week of unsuccessful medical treatment, Mac went into cardiac arrest and died during the early morning hours of August 9, from sarcoidosis complicated by pneumonia.
