Bio
Shaun Majumder is a Canadian comedian and actor best known for playing a variety of roles in the sketch comedy television series Cedric the Entertainer Presents (2002-2003) and This Hour Has 22 Minutes (2003-2009); and for his starring role as Detective Vikram Mahajan on the police procedural series Detroit 1-8-7, from 2010-2011.
Well-known to Canadians as a regular on This Hour has 22 Minutes, Canada's equivalent of Saturday Night Live, and as host of the Just for Laughs series, Majumder reached millions more viewers as Detroit detective Vikram Mahajan.
Many may recognize him from his previous roles as Kumar's brother in the hit movie Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle, or as the socially awkward Dr. Freddy Sahgal looking for love on the Farrelly Brothers' TV sitcom, Unhitched.
Majumder's skills as a character actor and a comedian have also been seen by U.S. and/or Canadian television audiences in 24, Cedric the Entertainer Presents, John Woo's Once a Thief, Hatching, Matching and Dispatching, Relic Hunter and his special, On the Edge with Shaun Majumder.
He's also had supporting roles in the feature films Pushing Tin and Purpose.
A winner of Canadian television's prestigious Gemini Award, Majumder first took to the spotlight as a stand-up comic. Along the way he earned a coveted place with the internationally acclaimed Second City troupe, as well as The Bob Room group.
He has also headlined nightclubs in the U.S. and Canada.
Raised in Newfoundland, Majumder is engaged to actress Shelby Fenner.
