Maura West is an American actress best known for her role as Carly Tenney on the television soap opera As the World Turns, from 1995-2010.
West joined As the World Turns in April 1995 as the scheming and manipulative Carly Tenney. She departed the show in May 1996, then returned in September 1997.
West received a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in 2007. She had previously been nomminated in the Lead Actress category in 2004. She also received two nominations for Outstanding Supporting Actress in 2001 and 2002.
West is also the recipient of four Soap Opera Digest Award nominations, including one for Favorite Couple alongside co-star Michael Park.
West was born in Springfield, Maryland. She is the youngest of four children; her siblings include two brothers, Peter and Andrew, and one sister, Amy. She earned her Bachelor's of Fine Arts degree from Boston University.
The actress, who married former As The World Turns co-star Scott DeFreitas (ex-Andy Dixon), is the mother of Benjamin (born 1996), Joseph Peter (born 2000), Katherine Marie (born 20002) and Basil John (born 2007).
In 2010, after As the World Turns ended, she joined The Young and the Restless in the role of Diane Jenkins.
