Bio
Johan Scholtz is a South African actor and singer best known for his television roles as Osie Oosthuizen in Binneland and as rugby referee Schalk Brand in Getroud Met Rugby.
He also stars in the kykNET drama series Hartland, in 2011.
Johan was a paratrooper and instructor in the late 1970s and 1980s. In 1984 he decided he could boldly go beyond the boundaries of his shower singing and became a member of PACT's opera department.
Shortly thereafter he studied a BA Drama at the University of Pretoria. At the end of his third year he was appointed as a professional actor at PACT and thus began his career in the entertainment industry.
His first role was as William Beyers in Agter Elke Man. After that roles followed in television series such as Vleuels, Arende and Grondbaronne.
After 1995, after a few years of missionary work in Europe, he returned to South Africa to play a role in Egoli. He withdrew himself from the entertainment industry for seven years, during which time he became a pastor.
Johan is married to Lulu Scholtz and they have two children.
