Bio
Sasha-Lee Davids is a South African singer best known as the co-winner (with Jason Hartman) of the fifth season of the M-Net reality competition Idols, in 2009.
Sasha-Lee was originally declared the sole winner aftre singing the winner's song "True Believer". But apparently there had been a mix-up with late votes arriving after the cutoff time on the night of the finale.
The sms's had been sent before the cutoff time but were only received after the deadline. M-Net made the public aware of the matter within a day and assured everyone that a recount of the votes would be done as soon as possible.
The re-count showed that Jason Hartman, the then runner-up was actually the winner, with 1.3 million votes, or 54% of the total. Sasha-Lee had come second, with 1.1 million votes, or 46% only.
M-Net decided however that "200,000 votes are not significant enough, and the results so close, the only fair thing to do under the circumstances is to declare a tie".
Thus Jason and Sasha-Lee were awarded the same prizes.
Fresh out of matric, Sasha-Lee made huge waves by winning two reality series consecutively, MATRIX and the coveted Idols crown in 2009. She was invited to record in the USA and also travelled to the UK, where she stayed for a few months.
Shortly before her 21st birthday she returned home and was overjoyed to be with her family. Back on home soil she is determined to take her singing career further.
Sasha-Lee is also a member of the Davids family of singers who were the subject of the reality television series House of Davids, from 2011-2012.
