Kia Johnson is a South African television and radio personality best known as a presenter on the SABC3 breakfast show Expresso and the kykNET breakfast show Dagbreek.
Apart from her work on Expresso and Dagbreek, Kia has also featured on a variety of other TV shows including Top Billing, Hello Doctor and SABC2's Keeping it Real.
She was also presenter (and researcher) on the SABC1 youth feature Take 5 and worked as presenter and researcher on the Afrikaans music show Susters, on the DStv music channel MK89.
Her radio work includes presenting on various radio stations including 94.5KFM, KFM, Radio 2000, 702 and 567 CapeTalk, Good Hope FM, Heart104.9, MuthaFM and retail radio stations Feelgood FM and Radio ACK. She has also worked as a voice actress at SAfm.
Kia is also an activist for the GivenGain Foundation and was a Celebrity Ambassador for the Vote for Table Mountain campaign which lead to Table Mountain being voted one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature.
She is actively involved in community projects for Tygerberg Children's Hospital and the Intyatyambo Community Project and one of her other passions is supporting local music talent, especially in Cape Town.
She has done this via her work at LMX, a recording facility that caters to the local market in South Africa where various artists have recorded including Locnville, Red Light in June and 12th Avenue have recorded albums.
Kia left Expresso in October 2012 and joined Dagbreek in November 2012.
She also currently presents on the SABC radio station 2000FM - she co-hosts the morning breakfast show "Planet Haibo" and is also an entertainment reporter for the station.
Kia also has a keen interest in environmental campaigns and initiatives and debuts as the host of Season 10 of SABC2's environmental programme 50/50 on Monday, 10 June 2020.
