Bio
Emma Dumont is an American actress, model and dancer best known for her starring role as Melanie Segal in the comedy-drama television series Bunheads.
She is also known for her starring role as Emma Karn in the NBC period drama Aquarius.
She grew up in Seattle and began performing in community theatre the age of six. Emma is a trained ballerina who has studied at the Joffrey Ballet School and the American Ballet Theatre School.
She also attended Orange County High School of the Arts in the Music and Theater Conservatory (as did Bunheads co-star Kaitlyn Jenkins).
In addition to playing the fun-loving Melanie on Bunheads, Emma can be seen in Nobody Walks alongside Rosemarie Dewitt, John Krasinski and Olivia Thirlby, which premiered at Sundance.
Emma's other credits include LA Film Festival favourite Dear Lemon Lima opposite Melissa Leo, the independent dramedy True Adolescents starring Mark Duplass and Melissa Leo, along with a lead role in Academy Award winner Stephen Gaghan's NBC pilot Metro alongside Noah Emmerich and Jimmy Smits.
In addition to acting, Emma enjoys playing the viola, roller derby and building robots.
