Adan Canto is a Mexican actor best known for his starring role as Paul (also known as Billy Thomas), one of Joe's Followers, in the psychological thriller television series The Following, in 2013.
Canto is from the small town of Acuña, Mexico, across the border from Del Rio, Texas. As a child, he played piano; at the age of nine, he made his film debut in Like Water for Chocolate; and at 16, he became a professional singer.
His first big acting break came in the 2009 thriller Sin Memoria (Without Memory). He then booked a supporting role in Te Presento A Laura (And Presenting Laura).
Canto starred in two other Mexican films: Amar No Es Querer (To Love Is Not To Want); and Casi 30 (Almost 30). In television, Canto was a series regular on Estado De Gracia (State Of Grace) and guest-starred on Los Minondo and Me Mueves (You Move Me).
He also had lead roles in the Mexican plays Todo Sobre Mi Madre (All About My Mother) and No Se Si Cortarme Las Venas O Dejarmelas Largas (I Don’t Know If I Should Cut My Veins Or Let Them Grow Longer).
The Following marked Canto's American debut. He resides in Los Angeles.
