Josette Eales is a South African actress best known for her role as perennial troublemaker Sarah van Reenen on the M-Net soap opera The Wild, from 2011-2013.
She has advanced qualifications in Ballet, Modern, Jazz and Contemporary dance and has experience in Tap and Acrobatics. She attended the University of Kwa-Zulu Natal where she acquired a Bachelor of Arts degree in Drama and Performance studies and English.
Eales' professional acting debut was the role of Emilie in Steven Stead's production of Dangerous Liaisons while she was still completing her degree.
On leaving varsity she continued working extensively with Stead's production company Kickstart where she played such roles as Velvet in Ben Alton's Popcorn, Nurse Grice/Nisbett in Dracula and Dandini in Cinderella.
In 2006 Eales played the role of Regan in King Lear for The Playhouse Company before moving to London where she lived and worked for one year and performed in a production of Measure for Measure for flagship productions which toured the UK.
While in London, Eales began taking method acting classes under the tuition of Samson Rhumbelow; this sparked her interest in this technique.
Being recommended by Rhumbelow, Eales got a place in Tony Grecco's class in New York to further pursue this technique. Grecco is more famously known for being a celebrity acting coach having coached such people as Philip Seymour Hoffman, Meryl Streep and Helen Mirren.
Eales later played the role of Desdemona in Think Theatre's production of Othello at the Playhouse drama theatre, the Hilton Arts Theatre and the University of Johannesburg.
She has also been seen on a number of television commercials including the Cell C WINK campaign, Liberty Life, The South African Revenue Service, Castle Lager and DStv.
In 2011 she joined the cast of the M-Net soapie The Wild in the role of Sarah van Reenen. Once the show wrapped she relocated to Los Angeles, USA to further her career.
