Lydia Forson is a Ghanaian actress and writer best known to South African television audiences for her role as Aku on the e.tv soapie Scandal!
Lydia was born in Ghana and moved to the United States where she spent her formative years. She returned to Ghana when she was nine-years-old and started her acting career in 2005.
Her first roles included cameos in the Ghanaian films Hotel St. James (2005) and Run Baby Run (2006).
In 2006 she appeared in the Ghanaian TV series Different Shades of Blue and in 2007 she was a finalist on the Nigerian reality show The Next Movie Star.
In 2009 she starred in the Ghanaian movie Scorned which earned her an African Movie Academy Award (AMAA) nomination for Best Upcoming Female Actress.
In 2010 Lydia co-won the AMAA for Best Performance by an Actress in a Lead Role for her role in the movie The Picture Perfect. She co-won the award with her co-star Jackie Appiah.
In the same year she was at the centre of a sex scandal when a report claimed that she was featured in a sex tape - an allegation she denied.
She's also had roles in the films A Sting in a Tale (2009), Masquerades (which she co-wrote) and the Nollywood film Phone Swap (2011).
She made her debut on Scandal! on Thursday, 4 April 2013.
