Bio
Osric Chau is a Canadian actor and martial artist best known for his recurring role as Kevin Tran, a Prophet of the Lord who is chosen to interpret the Word of God after Sam and Dean break it out of the slab of stone its trapped in, in the paranormal horror series Supernatural.
Born in Vancouver, Canada, Osric took his first acting class when he was 8 and started training martial arts when he was 13, quickly rising to become one of the best fighters in his category and a member of the Canadian Wu Shu National Team.
He began his career and honed his skills with roles on Canadian tv shows like Dragon Boys and Cold Squad, and it wasn't long before he landed his first lead role in the feature Kung Fu Killer starring opposite Darryl Hannah and the late David Carradine, which was shot in China.
Upon his return to Vancouver, Osric promptly landed the role of the young Tibetan monk Nima, in Roland Emmerich's disaster epic 2012 for Columbia Pictures. His image was plastered everywhere, as he was the Monk on all the posters.
Because of its storyline, sympathetic to China, the film went on to become the highest grossing film in China in 2009, making over $71-million in China alone and grossing over $760-million worldwide.
With the success of 2012, Osric decided to relocate to Beijing in Spring of 2010 to study Mandarin and try his luck there. Shortly after his arrival he found himself delivering lines in Mandarin in his first Chinese film opposite Chinese super stars Andy Lau and Gong Li in I Know a Woman's Heart (the Chinese remake of Paramount's What Women Want).
Subsequently, Osric moved to Shanghai for 3 months to shoot the Universal feature Man With the Iron Fists directed by RZA from The Wu Tang Clan. Osric's costars in this martial arts film included Russell Crowe, Lucy Liu and Daniel Wu.
In 2011, whilst still shooting Iron Fists on location in China, using his I-phone, Osric auditioned for the role of Peng in Josh Shwartz's teen comedy Fun Size for Paramount, and landed the role opposite Victoria Justice, Jane Levy and Thomas Mann.
