Tom Cullen is a Welsh actor best known for his starring role as Russell in the 2011 romantic drama feature film Weekend, directed by Andrew Haigh, which takes a tight look at two young male lovers who stay together over an earnest weekend.
Cullen and Weekend collected numerous awards including Most Promising Newcomer at the British Independent Film Awards, Best Actor and Grand Jury award for Cullen at the Nashville Film Festival, the Audience Award at SXSW and the Grand Jury at Outfest.
He was nominated alongside Michael Fassbender, Gary Oldman, Brendan Gleeson and Peter Mullan for British Actor of the Year by the London Film Critics' Circle.
Cullen is also known for his starring role as Wulfric, an able fighter, hard worker and burly man who is Annet's boyfriend and inconsolable after his father's death, in the television miniseries World Without End.
Cullen was trained at The Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. He appeared in Screen International as one of their featured "Stars of Tomorrow" based on his performance in Weekend. Other film credits include Daddy's Girl, directed by DJ Evans.
Television credits include the acclaimed Pen Talar directed by Sion Evans for S4C. He was also cast in the fourth season of the period drama series Downton Abbey.
