Bio
Londiwe Mthembu is a South African singer, actress, dancer, composer and director best known to television viewers for her starring role as Sonto in the SABC2 youth drama series Hola Mpinji!, in 2010.
Originally from uMlazi in KwaZulu-Natal, her background and the influence of her music comes from her life experiences and working with producers including Mbongeni Ngema, Duma ka-Ndlovu, Chicco Twala, Arthur Mafokate, Peter Ultee from Holland, Ziggy Marley and many more.
She travelled the world as a performer, gracing stages in Paris (France) and Berlin (Germany) and other countries such as Holland, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland, Denmark, USA, Democratic Republic of Congo, Nigeria and Russia.
Her singing and acting resumé includes theatre productions such as Sarafina!, The Gum Beat, The Journey, The Ghetto, The Game, Africa My Love and African Mamas; and the television productions Hola Mpinji! and a small role in the SABC2 soapie Muvhango.
Drawing on various South African styles such as Mbhaqanga, Maskandi, Marabi and Traditional Zulu music, her music is fused with contemporary elements of jazz, funk, rock, gospel, rap, opera, reggae and West African sounds.
In July 2011, she started penning songs for her debut album. Her self-financed album was realised with the creation of D-Londs Music & Management (PTY Ltd) with her two partners, which went on to produce Londiwe as their first artist.
