Thabiso Tshabalala is a South African actor best known for his starring role as Siyabonga die Opstoker in the kykNET period drama television series Donkerland, in 2013.
Born and raised in Pretoria, Tshabalala describes himself as one of those kids that couldn't answer when asked what he wanted to be when he grew up. He decided to become an actor because he could be anything he wanted to be.
From a very early age Thabiso has been actively involved in various spheres of performance, from singing in various choirs to being cast in high school productions.
In 2008 he enrolled for the Musical Theatre course at Tshwane University of Technology and he has not looked back since then. During his studies he was involved in the following musicals: Urinetown, RENT! and Parade as well as dancing in the 3rd Year Choreographic Season at the Breytenbach Theatre.
Upon completion of his studies, Thabiso was selected to play the role of The Pied Piper in The National Children's Theatres' The Pied Piper and Other Tales. He also played the role of Bagheera in The People's Theatre's production of The Jungle Book.
He could also be seen on stages of The Barnyard Theatre as Captain Hook and other exciting roles in On Cue Theatre's Tinkerbell's Pirate Adventure.
Thabiso decided that he would study towards a National Higher Certificate in Digital Music Production, which he obtained in 2011. He also studied towards his Baccalaureus Technologiae in Musical Theatre in 2013.
