Bio
Katherine Kelly is an English actress and recording artist best known for her starring role as Becky McDonald in the television soap opera Coronation Street, from 2006-2012.
She also has a starring role as Lady Mae Loxley, a London socialite who exudes power, influence and sex and whose appetite for wielding power is matched only by her appetite for beautiful young men, in the period drama television series Mr Selfridge.
Yorkshire native Kelly has acting in her genes – her Irish-born father, John Kelly, established the Lamproom Theatre in Barnsley, South Yorkshire in 1998.
If not performing in a production like Annie or Calamity Jane as a child, she and her siblings would hold court backstage.
While Kelly was wildly popular as bad-girl Becky McDonald in the British soap Coronation Street, she is a classically trained graduate of the prestigious Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts, and her theatrical credits include a stint as a leading lady for the Royal Shakespeare Company.
Since leaving her long-running Coronation Street role (for which she won a National Television Award in 2012), she has returned to her roots on the stage to acclaim in Oliver Goldsmiths 1773 comedy, She Stoops to Conquer.
