Bio
Geraldine Chaplin is a British-American actress best known for her Golden Globe–nominated roles as Tonya in David Lean's Doctor Zhivago (1965) and as Opal in Robert Altman's Nashville, in 1975.
Born in Santa Monica, California, Chaplin attended the Royal Ballet Academy in London. She was discovered by David Lean when she was dancing in Paris, which is what led to her role in Doctor Zhivago.
She played her grandmother in the biopic Chaplin, for which she received her third Golden Globe nomination. Other major productions include The Age of Innocence, Jane Eyre, Mother Teresa: In the Name of God's Poor, The Wolfman and Welcome to L.A., for which she received a BAFTA nomination.
She is the daughter of Charlie Chaplin and the mother of actress Oona Chaplin.
